Ariki Co. is two people and the two animals the company is named after. Ahri is the husky: deep brown, upright ears, looks straight at you. Kiko is the dilute tortie: charcoal with warm patches, amber eyes, looking just past you.
Ahri+Kiko
Their names run together into ours, which leaves the word with two i’s — one for each of them. So each one dots an i with its own ear, and that’s the whole logo. Everything else follows from the two coats: the brown comes from Ahri, the charcoal and the warm greys from Kiko, and the amber in Kiko’s eyes turns out to be almost exactly Ahri’s brown.
A note on the word: ariki also means high chief in Māori and across Polynesia. Ours is a coincidence of two pet names, and we’ve kept the identity clear of any Polynesian imagery out of respect for that.
